A short visit to Peterborough to see the cathedral there

Woolsthorpe Manor - seeing it on the National Trust list, we decide to visit the birthplace of Isaac Newton. We learn that he was definitely not a normal child - the house is well preserved and includes drawings he inscribed in the plaster of the walls about 350 years ago.

We visit the gardens outside after a tour of the servant's quarters.
Had another good National Trust lunch.
After the garden, we head to Lincoln

A couple of blocks away are canals - swans in the far distance
Returning from a nice dinner at a place along the canal.
September 16 - Tour Lincoln then on to York
It's not far the next morning to walk up to the Lincoln Cathedral and the Castle... but very steep

A lot of cathedrals have small tables on wheels, with a mirror so you can easly see the ceiling.
We see many stone burial slabs in cathedrals, but most have had their brass plates with names and decorations removed - for the value of the metal in most cases during troubled times.
